Our Media Center is staffed by Lynne Evans, Media Specialist, and assistant, Brenda Helton.
Mrs. Evans teaches the Information and Technology Essential Standards for media and technology. Each class visits the media center once a week for lessons and book check-out.
Atkinson's Media Center has over 13,000 books, periodicals, audiovisuals, and professional materials available for check-out to students, staff, and the community.
Many special events are held throughout the year in the media center. These include Children's Book Week, Read Across America, Atkinson's Birthday Book Club, the North Carolina Children's book award voting, and Scholastic Book Fairs. The book fairs are held in October and April. Profits are channeled back into the media center for the purchase of new books, AR tests, and other instructional materials.
