ROOTS
My parents are originally from Georgia. I grew up in the Atlanta area until age 9 and then Auburn, Alabama. I came to western North Carolina in 1983 due to employment with Pisgah National Forest.

Band, Track, and Cross Country.
EDUCATION
I am a 1982 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Forest and Wildlife Management. Following graduation, I worked with National Forests in Alabama and North Carolina for 4 years as a forest manager. I then returned to school to change careers. I graduated from Western Carolina University in 1988 with a Master of Arts in Education degree in school counseling.
SCHOOL COUNSELING EXPERIENCE
I was the counselor at Dana Elementary School from 1988 to 1993. I have been at Atkinson since 1993.
HOBBIES
Music, hiking, road cycling, sports, and reading.
